Finding an Art/Blog/Life/Work Balance: A Work in Progress

Hello dear friends,

I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything in a while, but you see I managed to get a full time job which managed to take away much of my time. I love to create, but I get so tired after work that I lose any motivation to work on anything. Moreover, my life just seems to get in the way of art and blogging.  I don’t know what it is, but there is just something about summer that forces you outside and makes the idea of staying home and pouring hours into illustration work seem somewhat unappealing.

How do other bloggers do it? How do you work and live and write and create… at the same time? I must know!

And thus, the puzzle that I am current obsessed with solving is: How does one find an art/blog/life/work balance?

This will be a work in progress, but I think if I take it one day at a time… I can do it!

Here are some things that I have done recently to attempt to keep art in my life.

Get outside.

Here is a picture of a flower that I drew in the park.

Create art at work during my lunch break.

This is a piece that I colored during my lunch break using art stix. It actually inspired the idea to create an art lunch hour with a few of my coworkers.

Create something for someone else.

Here is a picture that I made for a friend and blog follower for her birthday.

Rework Copies of Illustrations

This piece was actually a photocopy of a drawing that I made that I just started doodling on when I was bored.

This piece was very plain initially… (see it here) then I turned her into a vampire for this post (see it here) and now I turned this illustration into an Alice in Wonderland inspired piece. Such a versatile image.

Carry art supplies in my purse.

I made the initial sketch for this piece while waiting for a fireworks show.

And FIN (for now).

I hope you liked what I had to offer today. As I get used to juggling work and creation, I hope you can bear with my infrequent posts.

If you or someone you know is in a similar situation, please comment below with any tips you can think of.

As always, thank you so much for taking time to read this post!
