Create A Beautiful World

One of my favorite authors is Octavia E. Butler. I love the textured, layered worlds she builds. Her work, The Parable of the Sower, is one of my favorite books. But one reason she is a huge inspiration for me isn’t her published work at all; it’s her approach to her craft and her dedication to her chosen art form: writing. Reading her interviews and journal entries reveals a love of creation that captures the artist’s seemingly compulsive desire to make art. A desire that I also feel and often get lost in.

I recently did an artist interview, sharing some of my own perspectives about art and being an artist. I hope that one day, my art and my world can put someone in the same position that Octavia Butler and all the other artists I admire have put me in. Inspired to live a meaningful and creative life fueled by art. Finding a way to pursue a dream that they are passionate about despite it feeling impossible sometimes AND creating their own beautiful world to share with and inspire others.
